The cool thing about vintage fender stratocasters is that they have a much richer, darker tone to them, because the mahogany body shape gives it that dark, oily richness. The vintage model Stratocaster also has an incredible amount of “thump,” which is the sound that you get when you play the guitar really hard. Basically, the larger whammy bar allows you to get a nice solid tone without getting over-bumpy on the bottom end.

On the downside, the guitar is not as easy to learn to play as it used to be.
